The Sword and the Brocade (2021) Chinese Drama

Set during the Ming Dynasty, the story follows the romance between General Xu Ling Yi and Shi Yi Niang, the concubine’s daughter, who is chosen to marry him to save her declining family. Despite her low status, Shi Yi Niang is assertive and dreams of a life beyond the household, hoping her embroidery skills can lead to freedom. Though initially met with resistance from the Xu family, her optimism and sincerity win their trust, and she grows closer to Xu Ling Yi. Together, they face challenges, with Shi Yi Niang opening her own embroidery workshop and Xu Ling Yi working to protect his homeland and improve the people’s lives. Despite crises threatening the Xu family, they support each other through it all.
